Volunteers for the ADA show??

Heidi is the organizing the help for the big dressage show in September. She writes:

Iā€™m looking for volunteers for the September ADA show. I need scribes, gatekeepers, and runners. I also need hospitality people.

We have a couple of new incentives for the volunteers besides the picnic. For every 4 hours you volunteer, we either give you a $5.00 coupon to be used towards the 2009 ADA recognized shows or a $5.00 coupon towards food at the Rose Palace ā€“ your choice. I realize it is not much, but more than we had next year. We will also be having drawings for all the volunteers. Water will also be provided.

I would like to have a training session the evening before the show with the TD (especially for the gatekeepers). I will provide hot dogs, refreshments, and hopefully a TD to train. Again, I will announce a definite time and date.

If you have any questions or want to volunteer, please email me at jabsh124@gvtc.com or call me at 830-336-2052.

Rain, rain

Thursday the remains of hurricane "Dolly" finally dropped rain on us here. We were doubtful as the horses started to go out, then got brought back in. We've recieved enough rain that the grounds are really wet and muddy so no turn out or lessons on Friday either. Be good for Saturday tho, back to the usual schedule then.

Pine Hill results

The trip to Pine Hill was a good one. Weather wasn't horribly hot, it rained only just enough to keep it cool, not enough to stop the show. Hannah and Pistol, Ashley and Tess and Courtney with Wavish made the journey. After a long day Saturday of travelling, walking courses, schooling and washing the horses, they all came out early Sunday ready to compete!
Courtney and Wavish wowed 'em all with a first place after the dressage phase and then continued their great day to jump clean on both stadium and cross country. First place! in Beginner Novice.
Hannah and Pistol did a great job in the dressage arena. They jumped clean both stadium and cross country to place 3rd in Novice level.
Ashley and Tess put in a solid dressage ride to place 2nd at the Green As Grass division. And again, they jumped clean on both cross country and stadium to take home that red ribbon.
Everyone loved it! And look forward to the next time!

Finally, some rain!

Tuesday, July 8, horses are being left in - we had rain fall late yesterday and the grounds are wet. No riding either in the morning. The evening.. remains to be seen. If we get more rain, forget it. If we get sun, we'll be good to go.
