Drying up

It's Tuesday AM and things are beginning to dry up. The mares and the horses in the big field are getting turned out - and - we ARE planning on lessons this evening. The dressage arena will be okay by then (unless there's more rain lurking out there) not sure yet at this point what else. But that's the driest it's been since last Thursday!

And more rain.. lots of it

Friday morning dawns raining again. As of this writing, about 3" plus. This ends all plans of riding for a few days. All arenas are underwater. As are the turn out areas too. So plan on doing something else for the next couple days, the horses will be staying in as well. They seemed quite happy this morning to get fed LOTS of hay and NOT have to go out in that rain!

Back at it

Wednesday doesn't look much better than Tuesday, but at least we can ride. Soooo, lessons as usual today and turn out for everyone.
Weather forecast isn't too hopeful tho, be prepared for rainy weather again beginning Thursday.

May Rain

Here we go again with the rain... Some rain Monday during the day then again more overnight. Tuesday morning leaves the arenas full of standing water - that means no lessons AGAIN on Tuesday! We did turn horses out in the big field and the mares, but the rest of the fields are just not doable. Those horses had to stay in another day.

Last Liberty Hill show

The last Liberty Hill show of the spring season was on Mother's day. Needless to say it wasn't hugely attended! Only one arena this time, it was so strange to pull in with a trailer and have only 5 other trailers there! Talk about low key!

Brittany rode Sirrak trying out some new dressage tests. She came home with ribbons, but thinks she needs more work now on them.

Kate and Buddy did the best work they've done yet to date! And it was Kate's birthday too - what a nice birthday present, blue and red ribbons. Good Mother's Day gift for mom too, huh?

Lily made her debut in Training level. She was great as usual. With scores of 59% and 62%, more than happy with her first time out.

Weekend viewing!

Big weekend on the TV for those armchair equestrians.
Saturday is the running of the Kentucky Derby.
Sunday NBC is televising the Kentucky Rolex Event. For those of you that DON'T know, this is America's biggest baddest event. International even, so you'll see riders from Great Britian, Australia . . . all over the world. NBC will show about 2 minutes of dressage, 10-15 minutes of show jumping and the rest will be on the cross country course.
Watch it or tape it, either way, it will prove to be good TV!

Wet, wet

Here it is Friday morning and it's misty wet again. Don't plan on riding til we get some sun everyone, it's still really wet. Horses are getting out today tho, so plan on muddy beasts!

More Indian Creek

Still getting in pictures from the Indian Creek show. Here's Courtney in the midst of one of those winning dressage rides.

Wednesday rain

Wednesday night that line of storms passed thru here - dumping more than 2 1/2" of rain! So, Thursday dawns and once again, the horses are getting left in as it's sooooooo muddy. And no lessons are gonna happen.
Hoping it will drain and dry all day Thursday and we can resume our usual schedule on Friday.

Maggi and Matisse

Maggi brought her new horse Matisse to the show at Indian Creek. This is a warm up fence, but shows that they were really ready to do this after being together only a week! Cute horse, Maggi!

Airborne

Indian Creek again, here's Trisha and Lady going down the bank steps.

Flying Fargo

Fargo's jumping up that bank so nice! Mary's a little surprised...

Rains again

Monday began another cycle of rain here. Thank goodness we got in the Indian Creek show and school, but Monday brought some bad storms. Almost 2" of rain means it's not rideable and the horses stayed in the barn all day. Tuesday and Wednesday look much the same, so don't plan on any riding - unless you like hacking out in the woods in the mud. And the horses will be in "jail" as turn out conditions suck too!
