ADA Summer Schooling show

Alamo Dressage Association put on a summer schooling show at Col. Russell's. We were lucky that it wasn't horribly hot, with a good breeze and cloud cover often. They used the arena outside and the warm up was under the covered arena, so you weren't out in the sun so much.
Pam and Debra took their horses to practice the second level tests. Nacho was reacting to the trailer parked so close to the arena where the judges were sitting. So alot of his test was not so good when he's running away from the trailer.... Deb and Apollo had some problems in the first test, but did much better on the second one. Good schooling for them both.
Kendall took her horse Maverick to his first show. To much success. Maverick proved himself quite the gentleman at the show and they scored in the 70%'s to win both the classes they entered.

Kim took Hank to their first show together. They did a great job, had a great time and came home with ribbons.

Victoria took Luke for the first time to a show. And found out Luke needs a nice long time for relaxing and warm up! Good to know. But Victoria stuck it out and brought Luke around to some nice work in the competition arena.

Embroidered stuff??

Kim says:
I am accepting items to be embroidered with the Kinswood logo. This time I am not selling the shirts but folks can bring me whatever they would like to have embroidered – shirts, saddle pads, bags, jackets, etc. – and I will have it embroidered with the Kinswood Logo and name. The cost will be between $7 and $8 for each item depending on how many I get.

Thanks. Kim

So, those of you asking for Kinswood Shirts, saddlepads and whatever... talk to Kim!

More MeadowCreek

The rest of the group were competing at the Goldilocks division. This was a big class! Grace and Strider had a super dressage test, and a clean, well done stadium round. A run out on cross country dropped their score considerably, to place out of the ribbons.

Taylor and Indee did well - nice dressage ride, a few problems on stadium and cross country. They finished out of the ribbons with a lesson to Taylor to stay hydrated and get herself prepared for such activity in that summer heat!

Katie brought Savvy for a go - and smiled her way thru the whole thing! Think Savvy thought it was just as much fun too! They had a decent dressage test and jumped all phases clean!! to come home with a 4th place.

Lauren and Wiley were the stars of the weekend. Super dressage test, clean stadium, clean cross country and they ended up in 1st place!

Rosa rode Maximus in his first competiton since his injury. Got thru the dressage and then jumped all phases clean!

Kim took Hank for some experience in a show setting. The organizers were very friendly about letting us do that, and we were able to not interfere with the actual show going on. Not ready for the big time yet, but Kim feels confident about Hank's performance and knows what to work on now for the future.

Great show, nice courses. Varies from Pine Hill as it's much more open and galloping in the cross country. We really liked the stabling set up too. Think this show will be on our calendar again.

MeadowCreek Park

Competitors from Kinswood tackled a new venue for them, going to MeadowCreek Park for this summre's show. We had 9 competitors do the horse trials, plus one to do the jumper show the day before and one came to just school to get some idea how to ride the situation and just see what was gonna go on.Sydney rode Aston at Novice level and did an outstanding job, getting around with just one rail down in stadium.

Sydney also rode Demi in the jumper show Saturday - Look how great they look! So tight and careful!

Kate piloted Louie around the novice course, had a so-so dressage test, one rail down in stadium and an awesome cross country run! Ended up in 3rd place.

JuanCarlos happens to work nearby so he came to ride Apollo at Novice level. Considering he hasn't ridden in many months, did an outstanding job. Not so great in the dressage, but the jumping phases went great and he ended up in 6th place.

SaraBeth and Buddy had a good dressage test, but ran out of steam at the stadium. Got eliminated for 3 stops.

Coyote Springs show

Coyote Springs ran their horse this past weekend - the previous weekend show being cancelled from all the rain that fell. This weekend was dry - and really hot! The disappointment was the organization let the jumping phases run really late... and it just kept getting hotter. The good part was the gang had a good show anyway!
These shows, called a derby, have a dressage test first, as a normal horse trial. Then the jumping starts in the stadium arena, then continues out into the cross country, then comes back into the stadium arena to finish up. Kinda fun format.

Samantha rode Topper, still working on a confident ride, but she got around. Especially the cross country! They had her scheduled a bit backwards, with her jumping before her dressage. Glad to know she got around!

Alyssa and Tucker had a long wait til the end of the day. But they were right on with the whole thing and earned a 3rd place on their first time out!

Katie took Savvy and had great jumping rounds, no mistakes at all! Now, just need to work on that elusive dressage. Ended up in 7th place in that big class.

Lauren just knew she had a good go... dressage ran early, absolutely no warm up - and she did great anyway. Sailed thru the jumping with "only" one stop at the ditch - which is real progress, this used to be the eliminator! Ended up in 3rd place in Beginner Novice, a step up from her previous competitions.

Rosa had her best dressage score to date on Apollo. Got thru the stadium round just fine, but had problems with that ditch on cross country as well. She also brought along Maximus to his first outing since his injury. Only schooling, but he went around like a pro and is now deemed ready for real competition.

Ready for MeadowCreek now!
