Oh yeah, rain too

Along with that storm last night, we managed to have 4" of rain dumped on us. That pretty much says the grounds are a muddy mess. Do not plan on lessons for Friday morning (or riding either), but do expect it to dry up enough to ride for the evening lessons.

Brrrrr

First of the cold wintery blasts hit this morning. It's down right brutally cold. Wind factor is large. Horses in the barn stayed in today with blankets on. Horses boarded in the fields have to tough it out, but they seem to be comfortable so far. If we do see them cold, be sure we'll find blankets for them as well, but with the round bales to eat on constantly, we've found they don't seem affected by the cold. We people sure are!

New home

Chester found a new home today with Emily. She fell in love with him and just had to take him home. She's happy with his calm, quiet demeanor and is excited about the prospect of training him. We wish Chester and Emily a good life together!

One last Liberty Hill

The final fall series of Liberty Hill shows was Sunday. And the Kinswood crowd was awesome. Hannah and Pistol, Brittany and Sirrak were our Intro test riders and earned Championship and Reserve of the division! Karen and Dominic had most excellent tests in Training level and scores into the 70%! Wow. Kate rode Buddy better than ever and Tiffanye and Sundance had the best test they ever rode to earn ribbons in Training Level too. Our Second level riders, Deb and Apollo, Heidi and Cajun both rode great tests, working out some kinks of the last show. All in all a great day for all.

More on the shirts

Kim arrived yesterday with the Kinswood embroidered shirts in tow. She's neatly packaged the orders by name and left an envelope to leave a payment check. The shirts look great!

Clinic at Kinswood

Karen is organizing a clinic with this person. She has taken lessons from her in the past and thinks she's wonderful. Here's a short bio.. if you are interested in joining in the clinic, talk to Karen!

Greta Peterson has been involved with horses since her youth. She managed
and taught at the Navy stables in Subic Bay, Philippines and taught at NAS
Miramar in California. While an instructoer at the Potomac Horse Center in
Maryland, she had the opportunity to build her dressage and eventing riding
and instructing skills with Elizabeth Madlener and Grant Schneidman, the
upper level event and jumping instructor. While at PHC she met, rode with
and studied the principles of many regional and international trainers.
Hubert Roher has been her mentor and dressage instructor in Mississippi and
Louisiana for several years. Greta was co-owner and trainer at L & G
Equestrian Center for 13 years in New Orleans prior to Hurricane Katrina.
She currently owns and operates The Haven Equestiran Center in Madisonville,
LA. Both locations have afforded her opportunities to attend and
participate in many clinics and teaching seminars. She also continues to
teach both instructors and students at Equest Farm, City Park, New Orleans
and Windsong Stables in Saint Rose, LA. Greta currently has students and
horses competing from beginner novice to preliminary in eventing and
introductory through second level in dressage.

Greta conducts her clinics and seminars using simple terms that are easy to
understand. Her only prerequisite is the desire to learn and a love for
horses. Those who know her understand that she speaks for the horse.

A complete bio is available on the bulletin board in the clubhouse.

Overnight rain

Overnight rains left the grounds wet and muddy. There will be no turn out today - and probably not be dry enough to ride til tomorrow. Weather forecast looks good tho, sounds like we'll be back to normal by Tuesday.
