Fun Party

The barn Christmas party was a great time. No rain, not cold and lots of good friends. Some came dressed for the occassion...

Everyone brought GREAT food, lots of yummy surprises and treats. Horses too got some treats. And the bran mash treat for the horses. It's a job to cut and prepare such a large amount put everyone jumps in the fun and has a good time doing it. And the ALL the horses at the place get some. They love it. It's our way of saying "Merry Christmas" to the horses!

Rain again

Monday comes with rain.. all night long and more on the way. Once again the horses are staying in and riding becomes impossible thru the mud.

Finally!

Finally had a chance to get the horses turned out Saturday. No rain Friday and things have drained off some. It's still muddy, your horses are gonna come in packed in mud, but at least they got out.
Arenas still not rideable, so don't plan on using them. Even the trails will have slick areas. Maybe best to give it another day... of no rain of course.

Barn Christmas Party

Okay all you "old" friends of Kinswood Farms... The annual Christmas Barn Party is Dec. 18, starts at 2:30 as usual. Come if you can - if it rains, we'll be down in the barn aisle, trying to stay dry. Good food and friends as always.

More rain

So again... it's been raining this morning. Horses are staying in as it's a sloppy muddy mess to walk around in. Arenas once again have standing water on them.
Looks like this weather pattern will continue for some time. Like the rain, but would also like a break in it now and then...

Dressage show

Alamo Dressage Association put on a nice schooling show at the Rose Palace. Pam and Nacho qualified for the schooling show championships at First level... and earned the year end championship! 2 very good rides with scores in the mid 60%'s!
Jessica and Jazz entered training level classes and also did outstanding rides in the 60%'s.

All that hard work is definitely paying off!

December Pine Hill with Kinswood

This past weekend, we had many travel to Pine Hill to compete in their schooling horse trials. The weather was forecast to be a real problem, but it held off mostly til we were done. Didn't turn out as cold and nasty as it was at home! Danielle and her Ty had the best ride ever. Their first time at an event they entered Green as Grass to give it a try. She rode the top dressage score in her division and clean rounds in stadium and cross country gave her the blue ribbon for her division.

SaraBeth and Buddy tackled Beginner Novice. Super cross country go and ended up in 4th place.

Lauren and Wyland new to eventing as well. 4th after dressage, stadium went great. Cross country started good until the excitment of it all got to Wyland and he started bucking hard half way thru the course and bucked off Lauren.

JuanCarlos piloted Apollo around the dressage in good form, placing 3rd there. Stadium went well and cross country a blast and a 2nd place finish at novice level for them.

RosaMarie and Maximus had a good ride in dressage, despite half a dead tree crashing to the ground nearby. A couple of stops in the staduim, but got thru it this time. Only to be eliminated for going over the time allowed.

Samantha her looking a little nervous here schooling the day before - and trying out the cross country vest she borrowed. But all went well in each of her phases of competition. Sam and Wally ended up in 2nd place in the green as grass division.

Taylor took Wavish at Beginner Novice. Somehow no pictures of them. They did decent dressage but had a run out in both stadium and cross country, but ended up in 6th.

Matthew took Radie and had a successful ride. They rode Novice level and placed 7th.

Sydney and Demi tackled Training Level. Elimination in cross country means she doesn't place, but looks good here!

Half the fun these days is going to this show to meet up with friends that have scattered. We had a nice chat with Melissa, who had Clyde there on Saturday.

And Amy showed Hollywood for the first time. Amy always has a smile on! She did Beginner Novice, did HC, so no placing. But she stood on her dressage score, which means she jumped the courses clean.

And Trisha took her Gray. A nice dressage test, but a fall in stadium means she didn't place. She's got that horse lookin' good!

A very pleasant trip this time. We all came away with things to work on and look forward to trying it again next time.

wet wet wet

Most of you know it rained all weekend... So here it is Monday and it's soaking wet out there. Squishy ground even. Horses are staying in the barn, no turn out, no riding. Even trail riding is dicey.
