Drying up

After 2 weeks of rain, ice and more ice... then rain again. We are finally drying up. Arena's are not yet perfect, but we are going ahead with lessons and turning out horses again. After such a long hiatus, we are ready to go back to 'normal'!

Kudos

The ADA (Alamo Dressage Association) honored Debra and Apollo with a whole fist full of awards at their annual banquet. Rider Achievement Award, Championship at First Level and Championship at Second Level. We know they've worked hard all year, but WOW! Way to go!

Back

The farm here was under seige for several days as the ice accummulated on everything. The power to the farm was out for about 3 days, so if you were trying to call in, sorry, no answer! Horses were never in danger as the water was flowing anyway (altho it was a slow flow)and there was enough feed to go around generously.

Looks like winter, huh?
We are back in service now, all electric lines, lights, heater!! and phone working. Raining still, so there will still be no lessons. And looks like it will be wet til?? Friday?
Sigh.

More ice!

No snow yet here at the farm, but lots of ice and sleet.

Check out Ceasar's icicles, from his beard and ears! And he's still dry. Amazing.
All the outside field horses had some ice hanging.

Clubhouse

Hey everyone - for this week - be careful going into the clubhouse. It's getting a "redo" - fixing the cracks and holes in the wall, painting. Wet paint takes forever to dry when it's cold! Phil's doing a good job but it's gonna take a few days to get it done and everything back in order. Be patient - and be aware of wet paint.

Ice

We've got some ice at the barn here. But not a lot. Entry gate stands open cuz the ice doesn't let you push the button!
Hard to see here, but the horse has a beard.

And more rain!!

Once again, weekend plans come to a halt. We had a dressage clinic scheduled this weekend - along with some lessons... and the heavens opened up big time. No riding in this stuff! By the afternoon Saturday already several inches of rain has fallen and it's supposed to go on for days. Looks like the horses will be in for an extended period, so it would be good for those of you with stalled horses to come out and give them a walk around inbetween the rains.
Really cold weather due Sunday, Monday and Tuesday too - and wet stuff. So it may turn icy if we are unlucky. Snow if we are lucky.
Will post a notice when the conditions are good to ride again!

And more rain still!

Wednesday night rains were once again torrential. Almost 2" of rain here at the barn puts a stop to any riding on Thursday. Once again, the horses get left in the barn for the grounds to dry.
