Great rides

The Richard Howard was a success - everyone felt like they had great rides and learned enough to have 'homework'. Saw big improvements in all the horse/riders.

He'll be back in January!

Friday...

Looks like it's still wet for riding Friday morning, but will dry by the afternoon lessons. Plan to ride this evening people! Horses are going out, so plan on muddy creatures too. And the wind is blowing hard - hoping it will calm down some by late afternoon.

Still wet

It's Thursday morning and the grounds are still soaking wet from all the rain yesterday. No lessons today, no turn out today.

Rain

Looks like rain all day today (Wednesday). Don't plan on any riding or turn out.

Kinswood shirts

Kim left a box of shirts and a sign up sheet in the clubhouse for those still wanting shirts. You can try on the size you think you want and take a look at the colors. Lets get this done people and we can have the shirts done before the next show!

Liberty Hill again

Once again we had a bunch of people testing themselves at the Liberty Hill Schooling Dressage show. Disappointment for Tiffanye as she couldn't get Sundance in the trailer to get there. We know what she's going to be working on! And Donna's Santiago came up lame so she scratched. Kim and Brittany rode Sirrak for their first show and both came away with ribbons. So happy for their first time and Sirrak was a trooper for all those rides. Kate and Buddy tried their second show and earned better scores and better ribbons. Karen and Dominic did great, improved greatly and came away with good color ribbons. Janet rode Billy in her first show and was more than thrilled at Billy's showing. Debra and Heidi rode 2nd level, disappointed in the scores (different judge) but the tests showed big improvements over the last show. Got some of the movements down much better.
Fun part was that Pam brought Leopold - and Sally and Dude - to show Leopold the show world. It was his first time off home property since arriving 3 years ago and he couldn't have been better. What fun he is when he thinks it's all for him!

Kinswood Shirts

We've had lots of interest in getting polos done with the Kinswood logo. Kim has volunteered to get it together to get that done. She's in the process now of getting some shirts to actually see, yellow and blue of course. She's got lots of sizes so everyone can do it. Trying to get a head count of how many we'll need, so email her or talk to her and let her know. kim.henke@shawgrp.com Be ready for show season!

Soggy...

Monday - - - Looks like another soggy day at the barn. Lots more rain must have fallen overnight cuz the grounds are just a mess. Horses are left in and there's puddles on the dressage arena, super slick down in the jumping arena. No riding today folks. This weather is supposed to blow out of here by tonight, so it's probably going to be rideable by tomorrow evening.

One more thing

The Richard Howard clinic is full guys. I think everyone even remotely interested should come and audit. Always something to be learned!

Busy weekend

There was a schooling hunter/jumper show at the Rose Palace this weekend. Kate and Buddy went for their first time and came home with ribbons. Ashley and Tess also had their first jumping competition and came home with ribbons as well. Cassie and Sunset also competed and came home with ribbons. It's been about a year since the last jump show, we all decided there are still lots of things to work on! We sure hope they organize more of these shows, it was fun.

Amanda and her cute pinto horse have finally decided on a name. Wilco it is.

Tank will remain Tank, more people like the name than not it appears.

And Tiffany Geisen "adopted" a mustang this weekend. He's living with Marley somewhere in Comfort I think. We wish her success with this job of taming this beast, but it seems he's had a bit of a head start. She can at least touch him, he likes to be rubbed on the face and his belly. He's a 2 yr. old stud colt, big dark bay color. Looks like he has draft blood in him. She's looking for name suggestions...

Amanda's horse

Here's a picture of Amanda's horse. Maybe it will inspire you to create the perfect name?

Names, names

So that's 2 people that want to change Tank's name. Got any ideas anyone?

Clinic

Debra's organizing a dressage clinic with Richard Howard for the weekend of October 28 and 29. If anyone's interested in riding with Richard, contact Deb for details. There are a few spots left.

Amanda's horse

Amanda Jackson bought herself a fine pinto horse. He's very sweet, quiet and good natured. Bay and white spots. Super kind eye. He's green broke, so she's looking forward developing him. She's looking for a name for this guy, anyone out there got any good ideas?

Rain

Finally, we have rain again. Lots of it. There will be no riding today as the arenas look like lakes! Mud abounds. This storm is to blow out of here after midnight, so I'm thinking we'll be riding again by Wednesday evening.

New Residents

Kinswood Farms acquired 2 new horses yesterday. These are 2 year old geldings that were in dire need of a home. Instead of going to the killers, these gentle Percheron/Quarter horse crosses needed to come live here til we can find homes for them. The gray is Chester. The bay is Tank. You are welcome to go visit them at anytime. They will appreciate any and all attentions you can give them.

Liberty Hill show

Success was had by all at the Liberty Hill Schooling Dressage show. Everyone came home with ribbons - multiple ribbons. Kate and Buddy had their first taste of dressage, without jumping out of the arena. Donna and Santiago never looked better. Karen and Dominic managed to go around without bucking and good scores. Debra and Apollo tried second level. Pam and Beamer put to rest some of their problems, like those darn down transitions. And Heidi and Cajun finally won their second level classes!

Well done to all!
