Again rain

Friday night rained constantly. 3" of rain overnight left the grounds very wet. Horses are staying in today. Arenas are not rideable, no lessons. More rain possible, so be prepared.

Sarah and Archie

Most of you at the barn know that Sarah and Archie left for College Station to begin their college career. Archie was well on his way to recovery after his surgery and the move didn't alter his progress at all.
Nice to report all is well, and Sarah sends this picture of their first ride at the new place! They will slowly work up fitness, but it looks like they are on their way to some fine riding again!

Liberty Hill

First show of the fall season at Liberty Hill this past weekend. Only 2 riders went to compete, Danielle and Grace
Danielle took Ty in one training level class and won her class.

Grace rode Strider in 3 training level classes and did terrific. With scores in the 60%'s she won her classes and the division championship.

Well done riders!

Hunter/Jumper show

The hunter/jumper schooling show was well attended by several competitors at the barn. Lots of work preparing horse and riders. Lots of work getting the horses prettied up!

Friday, Taylor took Indee over to school before the show as he has the least amount of experience in this realm. He proved himself to be just as relaxed about it all as he is at home, nice surprise. Schooled over the flowery jumps, which were a little scary, but the wash racks were the scariest yet! Managed to get it done, and cleaned up that muddy horse back to white!
Taylor did a terrific job in the classes too, not quite winning  hunter round ready yet, but at least she got him over the fences. She did place well in the flat class.

Alyssa took Tucker in her first classes and did a fantastic job. Went right over all the jumps in good rhythym and got her canter leads perfectly in the flat class. Great fun.
Rosa took both Apollo and Maximus in some jumper classes and piloted around both horses well. That's a big job, taking in 2 horses back to back!

Mason rode Wally in her first show and placed well in the poles and cross bar classes and flat classes.
Lauren and Wiley tackled the jumper classes. Had a blast, won a bunch of ribbons!
Katie took Toby to his first outing also. Found out Toby has a real phobia of being in the ring all by himself... hummm, some homework to do there. She did manage to get him around by the end of the show tho. Placed really well in the flat classes.

And Elana took Indee in the poles, cross bar and flat classes, did really well. Won lots of ribbons!

Sydney took Radie and Demi in the hunter classes to see how that went. She had them looking very nice and she too won ribbons with both horses.

Fun show for all!

More rain

Sunday brought another 2" of rain to the area. Monday is still super wet and muddy. So, once again, horses are staying the barn for the day and the arenas are in no condition for riding.

Rain

Much needed rain started falling Thursday evening - and continued all night. 3" of rain left the grounds wet and soggy. And the rain is still falling. Horses are spending the day in the barn nice and dry. The arenas are too wet to ride in, so don't plan on that one.
Horses and riders planning to go the show this evening tho - plans are still on.

ADA show

Show season starts with the recognized dressage show at the Rose Palace. Deb took Apollo as the only competitor from the barn that attended. Riding Second level, Saturday proved to be a tough day as both horse and rider showed their nerves. Lots of problems in the tests... lots of frustration from both sides! Schooled hard thru the problems after the tests Saturday so Sunday would be better. And it was! Very decent first test and Deb rode Apollo thru the test with confidence and tact. The second test was even better and they more than achieved the goal of breaking the 60% mark! Whew! Was a really good last test!

Deer hunt

Lauren organized a fun sort of competition among the riders at the barn. Horse and rider teams of two went out to the woods and counted the number of deer they found for an hour.
Our winners were Victoria riding Reno and Kendall riding Wally with finding 7 deer!

Second place was Danielle riding Ty and her partner... Ty here sporting his "silver" place crown.
