Silver Hills Horse Trials

Finally! we got to a show that wasn't rained out. Silver Hills is a venue NE of Austin, so it was a weekend trip. Set up and school Friday, show was Saturday.Weather was good and we enjoyed the small show and friendly atmosphere.
SaraBeth and Buddy put in a pretty decent dressage ride to place first in her division. Then continued her winning ways to jump clean and nicely in both the stadium and cross country. First place to them!
Kate and Nate put in a lovely consistant dressage ride to place 2nd in her division. Stadium jumping went great and cross country was just a ride in the park. They ended up in 2nd place.
Sarah and Archie put in a good dressage ride, placing 3rd. Sarah took the stadium carefully and slowly as they don't have much experience, jumped clean with some time penalties. Cross country went slow and careful again, and they got thru with a 6th place ribbon!
Sunday we stayed over to school on the jump courses. After playing a bit (and raising fences!) in the stadium we went out to the cross country and jumped just about everything out there. What fun!

Dressage show

This coming weekend, the big dressage show at the Rose Palace is happening. They have returned the Saturday Evening performance. Starting around 6 pm, there will be some demonstration rides, then the competition continues with the dressage rides. Ends at 8. This is a free fun evening... come out and see!

Wet again...

Are you tired of the rain and mud yet??
Tuesday's rain left an inch and a quarter here. It's not gonna be dry enough to use the arenas on Wednesday, so no lessons. If you have a horse here, maybe a trail ride would be do-able. Some of the horses got out today, but some left in as their fields are still underwater.
Spring break too!
Hoping to be back to normal by Thursday afternoon.

Spring!

Nice day today - this Tuesday. Grounds are too wet still to ride, as this weekend's rain has got us in the mud again. But the horses are out and the grounds will dry today so we will be able to ride again on Wednesday. Feels like spring! A few flowers are blooming and the barn swallows have arrived back in the barn.
