When it rains...

It pours! After about 7" of rain this week, we are not in good shape for riding! The horses have been in the barn for the most part and looks like Saturday will be no different. The day is dry and bright however, so hopefully the ground will dry at least some for some turn out tomorrow. But I wouldn't plan on riding this weekend.
So - it's a great opportunity to go watch the big dressage show going on at the Rose Palace. With 2 arenas running from before 7 AM to after 7 PM surely there will be something worthwhile to watch - and maybe learn something!

Sogged out

Almost 4" of rain yesterday left the grounds soggy and unrideable. Don't plan on a ride or lesson today - Tuesday. The horses were in during the rains Monday, and in again today. By all weather reporting accounts, probably most horses will get out tomorrow. Love the rain, hate the delay in riding! Wildflowers are liking tho.

Indian Creek schooling

That beautiful place on Hwy. 46 down the street is having a schooling show/cross country schooling day at the end of April. We'd like to take a bunch of people to school on the cross country jumps - - - but need flak vests. Anyone out there have a vest they've outgrown, want to sell, let us borrow... anything???

Liberty Hill again

We are back to going to the Liberty Hill schooling dressage shows. These shows are run so nice, and it's a great way to get started. We had 9 students go - and all came back with ribbons. It was really a good go! Kim and Sirrak improved their scores big time. As did Donna and Santiago. Brittany and Sirrak continued their good rides also. Kate actually got Buddy on the bit, mostly. That right there was grand. Karen spent a good part of the day trying to keep Dominic's brain into what they were doing, but came away with terrific scores in spite of the "playfulness". Sallie and Dude put in great rides. Debra and Apollo are working thru some collection problems in second level, but scored well overall. Pam and Beamer are getting better - connected - for some blue ribbons and better scores. And Heidi and Cajun did well despite the deer wandering amok during her test.
And all this during a drizzly, wet day.

Drying up

Looks like Friday will resume the regular schedule of activity. Lessons will happen and turn out will happen. We were glad for the rain - it's amazing how quickly things green up. But enough already for a bit, ready to ride again!

Rain finally

When it rains, it pours - so they say..
And boy oh boy did it rain last night. Left the grounds soggy and messy. There was no turn out Monday and it looks like we are not going to let the horses out again til maybe Thursday if the forecast comes to be true. Also means no lessons going on.
So, keep your eye on the weather, and we'll get back to normal as soon as possible.

Spring is here!

Hey everyone.. if you haven't been trail riding lately, you MUST go. Signs of spring abound and it's beautiful out there. Redbuds are popping out a brillant pink and lots of buds beginning on all kinds of plants. Very cool.

Pine Hill

Several riders took horses to Pine Hill this past weekend. Jessica finally got to Novice level (we've been trying for months and something always happens!) with Wavish and had good rounds stadium and cross country to place 2nd. Kyla took Carson Beginner Novice and placed second in her division. And Ashley and Phread went first time Novice and placed 3rd as well. Well done to the Kinswood gang once again!
