Friday morning

Friday Morning dawns with no rain - but it's really wet everywhere. We are turning out the big field and the mares, just cuz they've been standing the stalls for a couple days now and we CAN get those guys out. But the rest of the horses are staying in for the day - if no more rain, we'll probably get them out tomorrow.
No lessons today as there is still water standing on the arenas. They will NOT be dry today!

Deluge

Well, finally got that rain the forecasters were predicting for a week now. It's Thursday afternoon and already we've had 5 inches of rain on the place. Horses are staying in the barn, happy not to be out in this! And there will be no lessons tonight. Or tomorrow either for that matter.. it will not dry that fast.
Don't think this rain is over yet either - expect it to go on thru Friday. Place looks like a lake!

Indian Creek show

We lucked out with this show in late June.. it wasn't hot! The late afternoon dressage riders had to suffer thru a short hard rainstorm, but it didn't stop the show!
Kate and Buddy did several jumping classes, both hunters and jumpers and came out with ribbons in all classes. THAT was fun.
Maggi and Matisse had some confidence issues to work out, but ended up winning a jumper class and Matisse finally going around like he knew what to do again.
Cassie rode Sirrak in a show for the first time and came out with a fistfull of ribbons too. She did a combined test and some jumper classes.
Heidi and Cajun, Pam and Beamer were our dressage riders that got wet. Both horses had some "horse monsters" lurking in the woods, but managed to ride thru the test anyway. Much better on the second tests, success in some of the things they've been working on.

Wednesday rain!

Surprise rain blew thru Wednesday morning.. and it looks like we'll get more again today. So! No turn out for the horses and no lessons for the riders. The arenas and grounds are once again water logged.

Drying..

It's Monday morning and things are drying up. Slowly, but it's coming. Think by this evening the dressage arena will be good to ride in. If we get sun, the jump arena too. Those of you working the "babies" in the little arena will have to wait another day or two, lunging in there will be slick for some time yet. You can always work with the bridle and saddle, lead them around or ground drive in the case of Tank.

Rain

Once again, we have rain on the weekend. That cancels lessons and the dressage clinic. Horses are staying the stalls today as more rain is predicted.

Saddle?

Beth just left a message today. She went to the State Line tack store in the PetSmart on the east side of town. If you didn't know, State Line is closing out of PetSmart.. Anyway, she said they have Wintec saddles on sale for $150! That's half price folks! If you are looking for a saddle, might be a good time to go take a look!

And more...

And, more from the Ft. Sam show. Trisha and Amy arrived to show us all how to jump!

And Brittany showed us what true determination was all about as Sirrak was an "evergreen" horse for those first 2 jump classes!

But she stuck out the wild times and ended up with him jumping clean and confident!

Ft. Sam show success!

For a hot, humid June day at the show at Ft. Sam, our Kinswood crowd did extremely well! We had a hard time getting to this show, with last minute lamenesses appearing suddenly, a hauling vehicle that decided to NOT start (once horses were loaded!), personal meltdowns - well, it seemed we would never get to this show.

But we did.

Donna and Santiago did the best they've done, earning some fine ribbons and great scores. As did Cheryl and Chase. Hannah piloted Pistol to a win in a Training level class too!

Karen brought Larson to his first show ever, and he was nothing short of wonderful.

And then the jumping began. We had Courtney and Wavish, Kate B and Buddy, Kate L and Wally all in the same division of Combined Tests. They earned first, second and fifth! And then in the jumping classes, Kate B won one and placed second in another. Kate L placed in hers with Wally. And Hannah placed in hers too! Hannah also placed well in her combined test.

Scavenger hunt

Saturday's ride at Triple H was a blast. Wasn't too hot, and the trails were just the right amount of fun. After gathering together to get our maps and instructions..

We headed out to follow the trails. Very scenic as it went thru fields of wildflowers and the "creek" - which is a raging river right now.

Figuring out the clues to the scavenger hunt items wasn't always easy - and had to be retrieved by someone agile enough to actually GET the things. As in Trisha plucking off seashells from the tree branches.

The demo rides were fine to watch too - the Peruvian Paso's drill team very good! After watching that and some lunch, horses and riders headed back out on the trails for more.

Saddle Pads and stuff

Kim says: The saddle pads and caps and shirts are here!!!! I will take them with me to Triple H tomorrow. For people who gave me pads, the price will be $7.50 per pad for the embroidery only. I had a few extra pads done for folks who might like one. They will be $25. The caps will be $10. For those who will not be at the Triple H trail ride, they can call me at 210-325-3009 and I will get them their stuff. Thanks.
