RAIN RAIN RAIN

I'm filling in for Diane tonight. She's having blog issues. She just wanted everyone to know that the rain storm on Saturday will prevent any horsing around on Sunday! She'll fill you in when there's an update!

Friday storm

We got hit by a bad storm Friday evening. Vicious it was. Winds ripped trees! And 1 1/2" of rain! There will be no lessons Saturday. No turn out either as everything is mush.

Polo

For all of you watching the weirdness of Polo in the lesson last night, we have an answer as to what's up with him. Polo wasn't his usual go-along-with-whatever self, his gaits awful and he just wouldn't canter. Very odd for Polo. Mystery solved - he's got a sore back. Some rest and horsey aspirin will get him back normal in a few weeks.

Pine Hill Results

Our trip to Pine Hill turned out to be a sucessful venture - if a hot one! This time of year, we expect it to be hot and humid and it always seems to rain on the GAG division. Not this year, we arrived Sat. afternoon to find it dry, dry and 105 degrees. Whew! We unloaded the horses and watered them quick! Didn't try to walk courses or ride til the evening.
Show day, Sunday, proved to be hot and dry as well, but there was a stiff breeze blowing, so it wasn't as bad. Diana Morgan and her wonderful Polo won their Training, Jr. division. Kyla Nelson rode a dressage test on Lazarus that was worth the weekend right there - no bucking! She rode the Training level jump phases with no problems - that bank combination with the ditch rode just fine! A few time penalties knocked her out of placings, but she rode thoughtful clean rounds.
Novice Senior had Mallori Nickerson riding Wavish and ending up in 3rd place.
Junior Beginner Novice had both Jessica Nickerson aboard Sunset - his first time out at an event - and Ashley Cotton on Phabulous Phread. Both horses were new to this. Phread was such a nervous wreck Saturday that we weren't sure how he would settle on Sunday. The dressage was a showing some tension still but in the jump phases he continued to relax and she ended up with a 3rd. Jessica showed tension as well and sped around the dressage. Had one stop at the stadium - first fence, horse didn't even see it coming he was so busy looking at his environment. But the cross country rode without a hitch - even the water! This was both horses first time at an event as well.
And Green As Grass division had Ashley showing young Diego at his first jump show. He thought the entire weekend was fun. No penalties jumping placed him at 3rd by the end of the day.
Good show guys!

Big weekend

There is alot going on this weekend. Debra and Pam are at the dressage adult camp, working on freestyles, quadrilles and the like. They are having a blast! Apollo has been dubbed the "Surfer Boy" as he shines to the Beach Boys music and looks the part. Beamer swings to the swing sounds! So both are on their way to being able to perform to music. What fun.
And a big bunch of us are going to Pine Hill to compete in the schooling horse trials there. It will be predictably hot, humid and it always seems to rain on the green division (sorry Ashley and Diego!). But this is such a well run show it's fun for everyone.
Wish us luck!
