Kate and Buddy

Kate and Buddy went to a 4-H show this past weekend. I see a red ribbon on the door of Buddy's stall!! Something must have gone right. Wish they'd report in on how it went...

Last Liberty Hill

This weekend was the last of the spring series of Liberty Hill dressage schooling shows. Wasn't as hot as expected, but Pam's umbrella helped bunches!
Tiffanye took Sundance, his first show in a long time. He was a star in the walk/trot test, getting some excellent scores. Not so grand with the canter, but that's true at home too! But not as bad as it's been in the past, so we deem it a success.
Amanda had a tough call as her usual mount came up lame at the last minute. Becky Snell generously offered her old campaigner for Amanda to ride and that turned out to be an excellent adventure. Amanda did amazingly well for only having ridden the mare a few times. Good showing girls!
Donna had some very nice moments with Santiago in the first test! But a long wait til the second test and Santiago wanted no part of it. Donna handled his little snit really well and managed to get through the test without a huge fight. That's so much better than before...
Pam and Beamer tried their hand at 2nd level, and came home with 2 blues and some very nice rides/scores.
Debra and Apollo did First level test 4 and won that one, dipped into 2nd level next and had a second to Pam.
Heidi and Cajun did 2nd level also, tests 3 and 4, and did a real creditable job. 2 blues for them also.
Fun to test yourself a little bit.
And the crown to the day was Debra's huge high point ribbon. She won the adult amatuer high point of the spring series. Now that's cool...

Foundlings

The kittens found homes - Julie decided to keep the tortoiseshell, named her Karma. Tiffanye has named the black one Jolly Rancher. Both kittens are gaining weight and checked out disease free. So glad they found good homes!

Kittens!

Last night, Julie discovered 2 kittens abandoned in the bottom field. They are about 5-6 weeks old. Dehydrated, hungry, scared... They managed to catch one - a cute long hair tortoise shell color. Julie took it home to nurse it back to health.
This morning we caught the other one. Gave it some food and water - and boy oh boy did it lap up the water! This one's black. Tiffanye's giving it a home. Yipee!

Wally's Education

Wally is turning out to be one fine beast. He's been used for a few lessons now, and things are going great. Even his first few jump sessions have gone without a hitch.

That's Chloe in fine form with Wally.

Horses coming and going again!

Things are changing quick around here. Wilson left, hopefully his new owner will really enjoy him.
Lily returns from boot camp. Looking better than ever. Ready to go to work.
Trigger is still here, but was sold to a family that can give him the special attention he well deserves.
Kraquer has left, he was sold. Again, hope his new home is a happy one for him.
And, of course, Wally. We welcome Wally.

Wally it is!

Okay everyone, the new horse has been named. Wally got the most votes, so Wally it is.

Finally found a horse to use as a new lesson horse.

He will need a name! We are taking suggestions. Any ideas? Write in as comments.

Storms!

Last night's storms produced enough rain to make the place a mess. Don't plan on lessons or riding in the arenas today, water standing in the arenas and mud is the norm. We are not turning out horses today too. With the weather forecast saying more severe storms this evening, I don't think much riding is gonna be happening.
Heidi brought over the new baby, Spirit Dancer, and his mom to weather the storms in the barn. So, if you drop by, take a peek at that kid, sure is a cutie.

It's a Boy

Heidi's second mare, Spirit (also Kraquer's grandma) had her baby last night. A gorgeous colored boy named Spirit Dancer. Wow, huh!

In and Out

We have horses coming in and going out.
Dayle took Meadow to Retama in hopes that she'd have more time to ride - it's closer to where she works. We wish her luck.
Tiffany bought Razuli, so he's gone too. We'll miss that handsome gray guy.

And Danny returns. We had Danny here a couple years ago, and we liked him alot then. He returns as a mount for Janet B, she'll have a great time with this good guy.

Newspaper fun.

Everyone's got to pick up this month's Horse Gazette newspaper - there's a picture of Kinswood kids in there! In a blurb about the upcoming Benefit Trail ride for Triple H Therapy riding, they included a picture of horse and riders in the water. That would be David Sheppard on Tucker and Mallori Nickerson on Wavish. Hey guys, you're famous now!

Condolences

Condolences to the Tylers as their horse Jessie died suddenly Friday morning. Jessie was in her mid-twenties, but still a very special horse for them. Our heart goes out to them and we feel she left a big hole in the barn life.
