Best Wishes
Sad news... Polo was taken to the Retama Equine hospital last night very sick. Looks like surgery this morning. Best wishes and prayers for a successful outcome to Polo and Judie. We all love this horse!
We have a beautiful facility,100 acres, dozens of horses, plenty of riders. Who could ask for more?

Very emotiol night for everybody. I only found out this morning, but I could only imagine how horrible it was. He is a great horse. I just called Judie @ 3:15- surgery is over. He is doing well, and will be recovering for the next two weeks at Retama! Best wishes:)I love that horse. D
i love this guy i hope he is doing well! :D
All my thoughts and prayers are with Polo and Judie. We all love them and wish Polo a fast recovery. Judie, if there is anything I can do, please let me know. Deb
Hi Everyone:
It has been the 24 hours from hell, but I am going to visit Polo today. He is awake and his ears are up and he is wondering where in the world he is! The vets out at Retama did a great job (it took 5 of them and 3 hours of surgery) in the operation and care of Polo's "displacement". I think that is a serious term for colic surgery.
The vets are "causiously hopefull"
and I will write you all everyday on his progress. Thanks for all your prayers. JA
Thank goodness that he is through the surgery. I'll keep sending positive thoughts!!!! He is such a dear horse.
Judy left a message on my phone and told me he was doing good. He is thinner, but hanging in there. She said that there may be a future problem with what is called the "Illium" (sorry for bad spelling). But I'll update y'all as much as I can:) ttyl.D
Dominic and I will miss our trail riding buddies for a while. But we are sending good karma to Polo and Judie and know we'll hit the trails with you again soon.
Hugs and kisses, Karen
Good Morning Everyone-
Polo has been taken off IV's as of yesterday and hopefully will get better each day, now that he can have real food!
He is out of ICU and the vet calls the exact time of the appointment to see him daily. Today it is 1 pm. I will put a granola bar in my pocket just in case!
JA
I am happy to hear he is progressing well, and I hope it continues! Bless both of you!
Judie, My prayers and healing thoughts to both you and Polo. I am so glad they were able to do the surgery and save him. Sirrak misses him in the stall next door.

When I visited Polo today, he was a little woozy (expected after a hugggeee surgery), but was happy to see people he recognized. He doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought. I was expecting big bandages and many catheters. One catheter, and no bandages:) I hope he recovers a little bit faster. But, baby steps are okay also:)
Update: Polo now has an ulcer, doctor put it on a scale from 1-10 an 8. So... yea. not good. Keep on praying:(
Judie told me the colic surgery was a 3 on the 1 to 10 scale, but the invasive surgery made the ulcer worse. He is in pain from the ulcer, but he did eat some small carrots Judie fed him.

We're still thinking and praying for you guys...
I haven't been to the barn in too long! I just found out about this guy. I am so sorry, and my prayers are with y'all, even though Courtney just told me he's doing good. Best wishes!
