Polo Has a New Mom

Diana sold Polo to Judie Andrews this week. Not much as changed, though. He still lives at Kinswood and still gets to play with all his friends. Diana's a little sad, but she's excited that her first horse is going to someone who really loves him a lot and will give him the attention he deserves.

As Polo's "grandfather" I can tell you that none of us had a clue when we bought him that he'd end up the success story he did. The under-fed and under-trained horse went from knowing next-to-nothing, to winning blue ribbons more often than not.

I remember well the ribby horse who hadn't ever eaten a carrot (he's eaten truckloads since), who used to trot around the arena back when it was up by Diane's house, with his head skewed sideways, seemingly looking up at the clouds. I think the other horses were actually laughing at him. They don't laugh anymore. He's earned his place in Kinswood Farms' hall of fame.

Kudos to Diane's training for turning a completely raw horse into an elegant one, and especially to Diana's perserverence. She's learned through Polo that sweat, blood and tears can make a difference. And to Polo...for being Polo.
